I do not see how we can score in the box in this league without a half decent striker? Recent goals have proved this, the only recent goal I can remember in the box was Lanzini's against Palace? Reid's winner against Sunderland wasn't and neither of Weds goals were either.

Easy to beat west ham. We can only reasonably score outside the box, score one and the points are in the bag for the opposition.

Given the run we have coming I still think Bilic will pay the price, as managers always do.

Has Ayew played even 90 minutes altogether for us?

How can anyone say he's a waste so soon?

It's odd how last season we were often wank in he first half and much transformed second, this season is the opposite with good first 20-30 mins and then we vanish completely

Still annoyed - where is the passion?

We should have actually won that

They should have scored four - that is how shit we performed second half

Tevez wouldn't hack this league now.

We will play a lot worse than this. Everton are a good side, full of energy and always closing down and pressurising our players.

The first goal was a mistake by Cresswell and Reid who between them should have done much better, after a great save by Adrian. The second goal was marginally offside but we still had 3 players running back who were ball watching and not one of them picked up Berkley

We had chances and should have taken them. We gave the ball away too much but were by no means that bad. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and move on.

Face...
Not lack of investment..
But very poor Player selection in the summer...Words fail me regarding Zaza...Tore...Nordtveit...

And Ayew for 20million was a waste..

Ausin for 4million would have been a good gamble...at least he knows where the goal is and zcores...

Today Bilic fucked up with his subs...FFS...Obiang ...Lanzini ...Fernandes OFF...

ON...Zaza...feghouli...Ayew...Did absolutely nothing...

The annoying thing is that in my opinion we have a very good team on paper. I'd love to see a top forward being supplied by Lanzini and Payet. If the owners could go back to May I think they would give Tevez the big money he was after for a couple years.

I want us to be great, even for just one season before I die.
Is that too much to ask for.

Strangely this sums up how I feel very well. This summer we blew a great opportunity to push on.

What fucking irritates me is it's the same old story - "Northern rufty tufties make bum boys out of Southern softies ".
An average Everton team takes us without having to play well.
It's just fucking boring

ps - Souness was spot on with the problem when he said 'we do not have a decent striker' and most of us have been saying that for years.

It must be gutting to keep working hard and then when you reach the opponents box finding nobody who can consistently hit the target. No intent to demean those who have scored a handful of goals but it really is time Sullivan put his money where his mouth is.

we probably subbed the 3 best players we had on the pitch in hindsight. Gave the game away a bit.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2- 0
Agree about Payet FCJ, like the others he had a great first 20 minutes then faded in the first and never got going in the second.

Is Bilic frightened to sub him because this was the time to do it? Lanzini never stopped running and should have stayed on a while longer. As for Zaza what a complete waste of space again, added nothing and I say yet again give Fletcher a chance.

I remember some years back joining in on a thread 'what DO they talk about at half time'? Well today was a reminder of those days, how could we be so useless in the second having made a very promising start in the first?

They did close us down very well. Need to work on movement off the ball and vision in midfield.

After the first 20 mins where we should have scored, we disappeared. Payet and Lanzini were really poor. The wide players were anonymous. Antonio worked hard but you can tell by his shooting that he is not a striker.

We continually hoofed it and gave away possession today. When you have some technical players then use them instead of smashing it up the pitch. Adrian is one of the worst offenders.

Lucky the result wasn't more tbh.

Re: ⚽ Everton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 2- 0
Noble leading by example on Wednesday is pretty much everything leadership is about, as a football captain. I can't say I've ever see him give up, even when things are not going well.

His pace can be brought up, but his qualities as a captain are not in question as far as I'm concerned.

The team seem to bust a gut to score to start with, but when the goals don't come, it does seem their frustration takes something away from their game.

Strange, as last season we were guilty of starting slowly, and often leaving too much to do to catch up. Now we're starting strongly, but if the goal doesn't come, we often surrender the initiative.

More importantly, does anyone know how many coins we threw and what the hit/miss ratio was?
